![]() ![]() The problem has happened in first gear only. But it has now happened over a couple of dozen times! it seems to happen more and more now. The first 1-2 times I sort of chalked it up to an unusual oddity. I have a little over 45k miles on my 2008 Jeep jk and this started happening about 5 months ago. Surprising, the total lack of responsibility on the dealership/auto manufacturer regarding this issue since it is so well known to the service department. It is actually more of a safety issue as there is no warning when it'll pop out of gear as one pulls into the flow of traffic and then suddenly becomes immobile posing a serious t-bone potential. This common issue will then be on the hands of the owner. Vehicle will be out of warrenty in approx 8000k. On the service visit, dealership was of no help as they could not replicate the problem and no repair or advice was given. It began as a sporadic issue and has become more frequent, approx 1-2 times per month. Vehicle has 28,000 miles on it, issue had begun at about 16-18k. ![]() The gear shift frequently pops out of 1st gear while starting from a standstill. I immediately took it back to the dealer but they would not fix it because they couldn't get the problem to reoccur.
